An e-Newsletter of Punggol Secondary School #14

Dear Parents and Fellow Punggolites,

Welcome to Semester 2!

Semester 2 is synonymous with the hectic period of lessons and preparation for GCE NA and NT Exams. In the midst of our rigorous exam preparation schedule, students can look forward to our annual 3-in-1 Mega celebrations of Speech Day, National Day and “I Love Punggol” IPW carnival. This mega celebration is planned to provide some respite for students to recharge and re-energise.

Semester 2 is a crucial time for exams preparations. To optimize our efforts to help students excel in studies, we have implemented some new procedures to ensure students are kept on task and are ready for their GCE and Final Term exams.

The new procedures are:

  • To Promote a Positive Learning Tone in Class

We have introduced to students our learning protocols -“PEARL 25”. PEARL25 is an acronym that spelt out the learning practices that we expect all students to adhere to.  We have special officers, whom we called Learning Custodians. They conduct regular walk about in the

school to ensure PEARL 25 is   enforced. With PEARL 25, we   have noticed a drastic   improvement is the learning   tone of the class. The   classrooms are much more   orderly, teachers can teach   better and students can learn   well.

  • To enforce stricter rules to support student learning

Students were informed of the   stricter enforcement of   discipline rules. The school is   serious in meting out strong   deterrence for students who   flout school rules such as   truancy, coming late for   school, using handphone in   class etc. Deterrence includes   detention, caning or   confiscation. These rules are   to support students’ learning in school. With our strict enforcement of these school rules, we hope that students would be more weary of breaking them and hence put themselves in a better position to do well in their studies. We seek full support from parents and students in the implementation of our new procedures, as we believe that “Together We Can Achieve More”. Thank you and best wishes to our students sitting for major exams this year.
