1 August arrived a promising day for the school. It was going to be a historic occasion and significant milestone in the school's history. For months the school had been fervently preparing for the event, putting together a meaningful programme.
The weeks before the events were filled with anticipation and excitement as our pupils practised hard for the parade, mass display and concert items, under the supervision of our teachers and the trainers. All in all, the event involved about 800 pupils and staff members.
When the day arrived, our pupils were ready to display their talents and camaraderie. By 4.30pm, the marching contingents and Guard of Honour were ready for the arrival of the Guest of Honour, Penny Low, Member of Paliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. Joining the Principal in the welcome party were Mr Lee Tiong Sa, Chairman of the School Advisory Committee, Mr Roy Quek, Director/Corporate Services, MOE, Mrs Yu Sing Tong, Deputy Director/Schools North and Mr Manogaran Suppiah, Cluster Superintendent N4. The GOH also received a rousing welcome from the school prefects and the Lion Dance Troupe from Balestier ITE lending their support.
After a series of mass display and March Past, the guest were brought on a virtual tour of the school. Many were impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities enjoyed by our pupils.
The concert started, Our guests were entertained with a modern dance, a repertoire by the school concert band and an opera performance "Ne Zha", which was a legendary story about resilience and courage.
To end the celebration on a "palatable" note, the school expressed its hospitality by treating our guests to a sumptuous dinner and a live performance by a group of musically talented pupils.
We truly appreciate the support of our pupils' parents and other well-wishers in making the event a success. We are also grateful to Ms Penny Low for gracing the occasion.
With the Official Opening, the school embarks on a challenging journey towards excellence. To realise our vision of becoming a value-added school, we will continue to bring about quality learning and sound character development among our pupils. |
