Live On Festival - Essay Writing Competition
The Live on Festival is annually organised by the National Organ Transplant Unit (NOTU), which is responsible for the promotion of organ donation. To raise awareness among our youths, the organisation holds both essay writing and design-making competitions on the same theme. All 23 TDP English students, 13 from Secondary Two and 10 from Secondary Three, participated in this writing competition. Two of our students received recognition:
Unity Young Writers Festival
Unity Young Writers Festival (UWF) celebrates the written word in Singapore’s literary scene, while nurturing students’ critical thinking and creative writing by conducting workshops so that they can learn strategies from local literary figures and interact with like-minded peers. We decided to use this platform to create opportunities to discover their passion for English poetry. Two students from Secondary Two participated in the competition – Tanusha Menon and Sheryl Kwek, both from Class 2E – who wrote poems, which were then submitted for the competition.
Student-Initiated Learning
TDP EL students worked in groups on some Student-Initiated Learning (SIL) projects. One of the group’s SIL projects was selected to present at the school’s Student Learning Festival. The group worked tirelessly to prepare a report on the environmental harms of technology. Another group planned a learning journey to Chinatown to visit the various murals by Yip Yew Chong, a prominent Singaporean artist.

43rd International C.B. Paul Science Quiz 2022
The 43rd International C. B. Paul Science Quiz was re-conceptualized and launched in a new format on 16 February 2022, where the Preliminary and Final Rounds were carried out on the same day. The event, co-organized by The Science and Mathematics Council (SMC) and ACJC teachers, saw over 1000 participants from local and overseas secondary schools taking the Online Quiz. Our students participated in the International C.B Paul Science Quiz and achieved 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. This performance is our best showing ever. What is particularly commendable is that our team qualified for the Finals, together with 5 other teams from the top schools, and our team finished 4th runner up.
TDP Mathematics
The objective of the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad 2022, organised by the Singapore Mathematical Society, is to test the ingenuity and mathematical problem-solving ability of participants and to discover and encourage mathematical talents in secondary schools in Singapore. Two of our students received Honorable Mentions in this competition – Ang Ye Han (Class 3E) and Lorenzo Mikhail Kurt Thomas (Class 4C).
